2022 Fall & Spring Grants Awarded

In accordance with its mission, the Spanish Peaks Community Foundation (SPCF) strives to make a positive impact on those who live and/or work in Big Sky. Therefore, when SPCF evaluates grant requests, it considers, and gives preference to, applications for local organizations and projects that deliver direct community services, educational support, affordable access to outdoor resources and recreation, and cultural opportunities that enrich the Big Sky community.

This fall SPCF received 26 grant applications with a total of $575,990 requested. This was SPCF’s largest grant cycle to date, as the Board awarded $321,590 to 23 different grants. This past spring, they awarded $263,700. In 2022, SPCF has awarded a total of $585,290 in grants to Big Sky nonprofits.

As SPCF increases its capacity to support local nonprofits, the Board aims to be predictable and consistent, while prioritizing projects that have the greatest impact and that address identified community needs. David O’Connnor, the Executive Director of the Big Sky Community Housing Trust remarks, “We are so grateful for SPCF’s ongoing support of Rent Local, and I look forward to collaborating on this program’s continued success next year.” The Rent Local program successfully housed 166 individuals in its first year by incentivising property owners to convert vacation rentals into homes for the Big Sky workforce.

SPCF’s increased capacity to support the community directly reflects the generosity and compassion of the Spanish Peaks Mountain Club members.
